1st and 2nd day at the Show with Martina:
I just put a few comments about the pictures you can see
So much for the show attendance, I sometimes had even had difficulties
to reach the Garrard501 to continue the demo and than finally here he is
again the real Star of this Show The Garrard 501 Inspiration at
SoundPursuit room 418 Le Meridian Singapore and you can see
and Frank Tschang made a nice light weight resonatordevice for our 501
dealing with vinyl's plastic vibrations quite impressively
You see Audrey Cheng at her very best with a customer asking questions,
Lawrance Lee a real hifi enthusiast , shame, owning a Lyra Helikon but
not yet a Garrard... .
And again the 501 - isn't it gourgeous....
It is just fun to be in a demo with Accoustic Systems inventor Frank
Tschang- you wouldn't believe that he is from France would you?
... obviousely the PRC 3 is so quite whilst cleaning a record that there
is a lot of ease in keeping up a conversation!
The preamp is one of the rare and famous CTC preamplifiers with a
British active monitor from ATC, known for its accuracy, midrange
qualities and detailed reproduction of the music.
For the price it is a stunning monitor ( 8000,-/ Singapore Dollars) .
Yet I miss a bit the involving beauty of the sound we achieved with FAL
drivers or the Swiss Monitors at the German High End Shows using Nigel
Pearsons great Power amplifiers or Art Audio valves, still the active
ATC is a bargain for this price- given that the FAL or swiss products
are minimum 4 times more expensive than the active ATC's.
You can see that we were having a lot of visitors the first day, and I
am very glad to be here in Singapore.
The nicest and funniest thing so far were by Frank Chang of Accoustic
Systems when a customers said "But I can't hear a thing" and Frank
answered: " Sorry, I do not have your ears...!"
A great comment came from Philip Tan, who was looking for the person
that made the cartridge alignement. Philip has built alignement
protractors for 20 years and his comment was "what a perfect adjust
cardridge, that person got it right!" - Thank's for that Mr. Tan. It is
great that someone notices that work and also knows that you align it
right or wrong and don't create sound but by aligning right only it
gives the Best. And one comment from me on that. Yes to align properly
you need proper tools , patience and trainig but not a High End Guru. So
if you invest for a Titan or other great gear invest in the person that
aligns it ! This is the wrong place to be "stingy" !!! I really mean
that! The wrong aligngnment is killing everything a decent alignment
might create the superstition that you can live with it, but a correct
alignement gets you to have goose pumps out of sher joy from the
barrierless, natural involving sound you can get.
The second day I played a Flamenco record and on on picture you can see
the faces drop- the room stayed packed with people, no one moving out
for 25 minutes- I forgot how powerful the dynamic is comming from that
new 501- I think we were shocked and taken away - impressive this is
when happening on a ordinary demo!
One picture shows the sales outlet at the Show of High End Research that
has one of the best Analog stores around the world, you do find Vinyl
and a lot more.
On the way a lot of L'art du Son liquids found new owners. As we learned
how to treat plastic( Vinyl) the right way, we were given also the
understanding what to do to the CD/DVD surface. So about the new product
from L'Art du Son one guy said:"... but you shouldn't make CD's sound
better and more analog ...", but we do!
For a DVD it gives a much better Color definition, that will be reported
tomorrow ....
And to end this I've added a picture taken in Singapore downtown, my
comment: faceless men are rather scarry as- their products are...!
